Emily Ann Hoffman (she/her) is a multidisciplinary filmmaker, animator, artist and Assistant Professor at NYU, Tisch. She works across live action and animated media to create films that explore sexuality, gender and intimacy through poignant comedy. Her films have screened at numerous festivals such as Sundance, SXSW, and Slamdance, and have earned her Oscar-qualifying awards. She has participated in prestigious programs such as the Warner Bros. Discovery Access Directors Program, the New York Film Festival Artist Academy, Sundance Institute’s Sundance Ignite, The Gotham TV-series lab and market, and the Jacob Burns Film Center’s Creative Culture. Her commissioned animation and film work has been featured on platforms such as Netflix, HBO, Quibi, Hulu, Adobe, Vimeo Staff Picks, Short of the Week, and more. She is a Creative Partner at Mighty Oak, an award-winning woman and queer-owned animation studio that aims to bring the human touch back into the picture. As a fine artist, she works across painting and small-scale sculpture. She has participated in international residencies and has been featured on It’s Nice That, Architectural Digest, and Fast Company. Emily holds a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and serves as an Assistant Professor of Animation in Undergrad Film and TV at New York University. She previously taught at Parsons, The New School and School of Visual Arts.
